Activity

To inform indirectly

Background

An activity is instruction where participants do most of the work.  As an instructor,
that was study hall duty.  While the main skill in excellent instruction is lecturing,
an activity facilitator must have clear goals and guide the resulting groups finding.

The Activity Model

Set a Goal (Opening):  A learning target to achieve; e.g., "We need a sales training program for the forthcoming model of our new widget.  What needs to be included?"

Group Work (Middle):  Small groups discuss the program needs and create reports.

Report and Discuss Findings (Closing):  Each group reports its findings.  The facilitator lists important issues, notes views as to their significance, creates a findings list, then prioritized as to their importance.

Cautionary Note

The model described above is one of many possibilities and... facilitation is difficult.
